Resolve Social Reframe Setup
Social Prep
A DaVinci Resolve script that turns a final import of a spot into selected social aspect-ratio timelines, detects the cut points, and can AI reframe a duplicate V2 layer.
What it does
Select one or more final exports in the Media Pool, run the script, then choose which social formats to build: 9:16, 4:5, and 1:1. Each output keeps the source height and calculates the matching width.
For each selected format, it creates a new timeline, sets the timeline resolution, runs Resolve's scene cut detection, and optionally builds a V2 Smart Reframe layer above the original V1 framing.
If the AI reframe works, keep the V2 clip. If it misses, delete that V2 clip and manually reframe the exposed V1 clip below.
Not the prettiest little utility in the world, but it has saved me tens of hours when prepping social versions from finished spots.
Install on Mac
In Finder, choose Go from the menu bar, then choose Go to Folder...
Paste this folder path:
~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Scripts/Utility/Drop the downloaded script into that folder, then restart Resolve. It should appear under Workspace > Scripts > Utility.
Run
In Resolve, select the final export clip or clips in the Media Pool.
Open Workspace > Scripts > Utility > KrabbySocialFramingPrep.
Choose formats and whether to create the Smart Reframe V2 layer, then click Create timelines.
